Celebrating World Environment Day with Eco-Walks Project

In honor of World Environment Day, InterMediaKT, in collaboration with key local stakeholders, organized a weekend event to raise environmental awareness and promote the Erasmus+ “ECO-WALKS” project. The event spanned two days, focusing on education and action, with the aim of making a positive impact on the environment.

Day 1: Education and Information:

The first day was dedicated to informing and educating participants about the “ECO-WALKS” project. This included an in-depth project presentation, e-learning modules, and training sessions on essential topics such as environmental protection, sustainability, and climate issues. External experts shared their insights, making it a comprehensive learning experience. InterMediaKT partnered with three significant stakeholders: Project KAPA, Oikipa, and the regional chamber of Achaia. This collaboration enriched the event by pooling resources and expertise. The activity was aimed to the exposure of people living in Patras to the natural environment and the increase of their love for the environment. Through their wandering in nature and by cleaning the route they can preserve its natural beauty for future generations.  The route starts from the river Glafkos in the western part of Patras and will end at Achaia Clauss a vineyard founded in 1861.

Day 2: Taking Action:

The second day focused on translating knowledge into action.  The practical approach empowered individuals to contribute to the project’s goals and effect change in their local communities. It starts by meeting next to the beach and exploring the wetland of the area of EOT Plaz, under the guidance of members of the Patras Ecological Movement (OIKIPA) and Project Kapa. During the route, participants learned about the ecosystem of the area, cleaned the wetland, informed about the species that live there and the thermal springs of the area. InterMediaKT’s initiative to spread the “ECO-WALKS” project’s training and visibility over the weekend was a successful endeavor. It equipped participants with the knowledge and tools to make a real difference in environmental conservation and sustainability. As we move forward, we anticipate that the impact of this event will continue to inspire eco-friendly initiatives and positive change on a global scale.
